Takashi Nishi is a graduate of Kinki University. He specialized in Fisheries in the Faculty of Agriculture. His passion for diving began during his time at university and he soon acquired a JUDF Master Diver certification. After graduating, he sought employment at Japanese Pearl Company where he was able to continue his passion for diving alongside his job. Assigned to the Amami Pearl Farm South Sea Pearl Department, he basked in the charm of the island during his time there through diving and hiking. In 1995, he was dispatched to an island in the Andaman Sea to serve as the technical manager for the development of a new South Sea Pearl farm. In 2010, he retired from the company before he founded Shellish in 2012. Nishi remains committed to sharing the charm of pearl oysters with the world. He is currently based in the Amami Oshima region and continues to lend his technical expertise and support to various pearl farms in the Andaman Sea.
